rab62184 - Introduction
Hello All,
rab62184 here. I just figured I would introduce myself. I have a 72 Cutlass (442 Clone) that currently has a 350 olds (original 2bbl) with #8 heads, stock pistons (low compression), th350 trans, and 10-bolt 8.5" open rear end. I have installed edelbrock 7111 intake, msd 6-al2 programmable ignition, flowtech headers, comp thumpr cam, FAST EZ-efi, a hydro-boost from an early 90s GMC. I think the rear gear is something like 2.73. not sure.
I am currently working on getting things rounded up to build a 455 big block olds. these are the parts I currently have : 455 olds block to be bored .030 over, 2323F .030 pistons, N crank (std dimensions), GA heads, bearings, gaskets, etc. It will be mated to a build 4l60E trans. i'm still thinking on changing rear gears though. I am looking to eventually put on procomp aluminum heads in the future as I don't have the dough for the edelbrocks.
So, yeah, that is where I stand.
Howdy.

In my opinion a gear change would give you your most improvement.
If you drive the freeway a lot, I suggest 3.42 ratio.
If you want more pop from the gas pedal 3.55 or 3.73 will be next, but will cut down on your freeway drive.
If you go with the over drive and the 3.73's that will be the way to go.
In my opinion.
