Proud new owner of '50 Olds

Hey guys, My name is Louis T. (aka Brokenarrow) and I live in western Oklahoma. I am an old school mechanic and a diehard fan of classic American iron. My dad has always driven Oldsmobiles, (up until they went to front wheel drive). He is in his 80s now and just recently gave me his pride and joy 1950 Olds 98 sedan, shipped it to me from his home in Atlanta, GA. The car is a running driving survivor, 66K miles original drivetrain, 303 Rocket & hydramatic transmission. He redid all the interior himself, seats,
carpet, headliner all redone as original. The car is beautiful and I plan to keep it as it is, love the original patina. It does have some issues from setting so long and not being driven, I hope to get some knowledge and good advice from you guys, Thanks in advance. I will be around picking some brains for awhile.

Here's a few more pics of the old girl. The Firestone Thermador was in the trunk along with a ton of spare parts.

Welcome and very nice. You must have been a good son along the way for Dad to give you his pride and joy. I think you are taking the right approach with the car. Since you are not too far away, please consider coming to the NTOC Zone Show in early May of this year. More info to come but it is going to be held at Tanglewood Lodge on Lake Texoma. You do not have to be a club member to enter. It is going to be a really good show this year.

If you need a set of tires, I have a set of reproduction BF Goodrich wide whites that came from Coker Tire. They are bias belted. I took them off my 54 and went to radials. I have a set of 5. Four of them have a few thousand miles (probably less than 5,000) and the 5th one was the spare and has never been on the ground. The whitewall is probably not quite as wide as the 50 had. I think they are 2 3/4 wide and the 50 might have been 3 inches. Just a thought if you need them. I will be posting more about the zone show as it gets closer.

NICE 50, we have a 63 Corvette bought off the used car lot at Seltzer Chevrolet in OKC in 69. We are the second owners. However, my passion is with the Old, Olds. Would love to see your car. Welcome to our Club...
