proud new owner of a 1956 Super 88

Hello,I am Angelica and I am a proud new owner of a 1956 Super 88.I have a deep heart for the 1950s and 1960s Oldsmobiles.Love the car and I call it my baby now,my father gave it to me and knew I always wanted one.

Welcome! Learn all you can about it, take good care of it, keep it in a garage when you are not driving it, and it will serve you well for as long as you want. I have a 1955 and it is still doing great.

I am learning about it and it is the transmission so far.I am learning not to give full throttle when going into 2nd gear,has the Jetaway hydramatic automatic transmission.It is in my garage covered up with the cover it came with.I even have the original shop manual for it

Question Rough shift?

If you're getting a rough 1-2 shift you might consider a complete fluid change (torus & pan) if it hasn't had one in a long time. There are other things which can cause it, but if something is only sticking a bit, sometime fresh fluid will free it.

Transmission was rebuilt during the retoration,I have all the paperwork that was done to this car even the reciept for the transmission rebuild.This car was found in an old lady's garage needing a little work.

What a wonderful gift from a wonderful person. '56 was one of Oldsomobile's best years, styling wise. Enjoy that ride!
