One off 59' Olds from San Francisco
Hello,
My name is Kevin and I stumbled across the site after searching for Olds parts. I'm new to the Olds brand, but not cars. I've also just made the transition from speed to cruising. With three kids and a mortgage to pay, the 1/4 mile doesn't interest me any longer.
I recently purchased a 1959 Olds 98. It is truly a one of a kind car and I haven't found anything similar yet. The car belonged to a family member who passed away in 2007. The car sat outside for three years in some rough weather before I was able to purchase it. He had the car built as it is now but it was only "finished" (they never are) for three months before his passing.
It's a full air ride car with tubular a-arms up front. It's a got a BBC 454, TH400, Ford 9 inch rear. The car is chopped and it's a full chrome car. It's at a good from far but far from good state right now. In the near future plans include seatbelts for the kids and replace the trunk pan. I also have yet to pull up the carpet to see what the floors look like, but I'm sure they are going to be in bad shape if they are anything like the trunk pan.
I look forward to listening and learning about these great cars. Sorry to offend the crowd that would never have a Chevy in their Olds, I do understand.
Thanks,
Kevin

Welcome to the site Kevin! Yes please post pictures when you can. We've created the non-olds powered forum as a place to discuss other makes of engines transplanted into these cars. Then theres the vehicle lineup where you can find discussions on the rest of your car. Please feel free to post questions as they come up and share insights as you work on your car.

Welcome to CO Kevin. There are a few threads on putting seatbelts on the older cars that never had them. A simple search for that term should find them for you, informative and useful information in them.
