Oil pressure problems

I have a new rebuilt 70 455 and while priming the motor i have low oil pressure (about 10 psi) and no oil to two of the rockers. Does anyone have a idea what it could be?

Are you spinning the drill fast enough?
Are you rotating the motor as you go?
Did they leave any oil galley plugs out?
Just a few thoughts

Are you rotating it counter clockwise? That's what you need to do. You need a high rpm drill 600 to 800 rpm

With my slow turning Milwaukee 1/2" drill, I've always had well over 60 psi while priming motors. Better hit the brakes on the project before starting it.

ok so i checked oil galley plugs and they are there, made sure I was rotating counter clockwise and got a faster drill and sitll have the same problem. Is it bad to run a high volume oil pump in a stock pan? could that be it, should i upgrade my oil system. Keep in mind the engine is mostly a stock rebuild.

No, don't run the engine, you have a problem somewhere, bad oil pump or pickup sucking air, bearing clearance, or some other issue. should 50 lbs on a new build at least.

What direction are you turning the drill?

Are the two oil galley plugs in the front , behind the timing chain? also the oil plug in the back in front of the distributer gear?
Try a different oil gauge.

Is it a mech or electric gauge? If electric does it have power and proper ground? Like said above try a different gauge. I have one that mounted to a long nipple that I thread into the oil pressure hole by the water pump just for priming.

i am gonna take everything apart and check again. i put a new guage on. By any chance will the oil filter housing have a spring? if so does that make a difference. i am going to check the oil pump also to see if it is bad or if the pick up is letting air in the system.
