I've been a member of Classic Oldsmobile for awhile now. My latest Oldsmobile purchase prompted me to post and share some pictures. I found this 1966 442 post car in a back yard where it had been sitting for 39 years. It's an original Arizona car and other than being sunburnt the body is in pretty decent shape. The engine and transmission are missing as is the hood, cowl vent and bucket seats. The back glass lower channel leaked and the trunk floor was ruined. I had to put the front suspension and steering in including the column to make it a roller.
Since making it a roller I'm half-tempted to make it a driver in almost "as-is" condition and just start enjoying it. I have a few Olds engines, Muncie 4-speeds and disc brake changeovers I could use for the car. I would also rebuild the front suspension and anything else in order to make it safe and dependable.

Thanks for sharing your new find, Very nice 66 post car. i also found one in a yard in Alabama , but Unfortunately it was to far gone to save. Save this one please - not to many 66 post cars left. That one looks very solid other then the rust in the rear you mentioned. Non air car sweet ... Is it also an original 4 speed or Auto ?
Welcome to posting about your new found project. You need some things, but you have a place to start. Tackle the rust.
Most of what’s missing in the pictures (front bumper, grille, trunk lid) was loose and already in the back of my pickup. What I don’t have are the hood and cowl vent.
Thanks! This is my first ‘66 442. It was about to be cut up and sent to the crusher. I couldn’t let that happen. The body is in too good of shape to not save it.
Cool project, let us know what's in store for her.
It was so easy making it a roller that I’m thinking it would be easy to also make it a driver. But first I’m going to fix the rust at the bottom of the back window and put in a new trunk floor.
Welcome and good luck with it. You never said if it was an auto or 4 speed. Let me know if you need an original auto out of a 66 442.
I replaced mine with a 350 turbo when I had it and the guy who bought it didn't want it so...

I’m glad I decided to save this one too. It was about to be cut up and sent to the crusher. It is an original 4-speed car! No A/C, no power brakes or power steering. I need to go back out and look at the car again but I think it may be a bench seat car too.

What a great find! Can't wait to see what you do it next.
It looks a lot better already just sitting on all fours, don't you think? Plus the white steel wheels give it a tough look in my opinion. I always thought these cars looked better with 15' wheels and tires instead of 14'.

Yes, the white wheels look great. The wheel size doesn't make as much difference except for tire size selection. 15's have more sizes available. 275/60R15's or bigger would fit in the rear wheel wells nicely.

I was excited to learn from the cowl tag that my '66 4-4-2 is a bench seat and 4-speed car. Cool combination, I think. I also have some dog dish/poverty caps for the 1967 and later cars. I just had to try them on and I like them.
