Smile 1969 442 Newbie

Hello everyone!

Just purchased this numbers matching 1969 442.
This will be my first muscle car/ classic car and I'm excited to get this car on the road.
Will be found roaming the DFW, TX. Would be interested in meeting up with anyone in the area.

Enjoy the photos!

Sport Coupe. I like. There's plenty of Texans on here as well as four Oldsmobile Club of America chapters in the state. North Texas Olds Club is based in DFW area.

Very nice. You don't often see post coupes. You gonna keep the Chevelle stripes?

Not sure yet! I like the stock look and this paint job was done about 15 years ago. Some blemishes here and there so it may be time to get it put back to the original style. This car was colored in sable originally though and I'm not sure I want to go back to that.

Same with me -- my car was Sable, I chose to leave it in the Resale Red I got it in. I've never been big on brown cars.

Re blemishes: looks like the driver's side quarter might be slightly darker aft of the door cutline, although that may just be the shading in the picture. Are you aware of any bodywork back there?

yup! Good eye. The car has its definitive fair share of paint issues. The pictures certainly make it look better than it is.

I’d put it at a 20ft paint job. With some luck and help, I’ll try to get it to a 10 before having to replace some metal and repaint.

I’m the fourth owner. The previous owner tracked down the others and all said it was never wrecked. So who knows. It might just have been a rust repair since there is still a little rust on the drivers rear quarter panel.

Well done. Sounds like you did your due diligence and went in with your eyes open.
