Newbie from San Diego, Ca.

Hello All, I found your site looking for parts for my wife's 1966 Delta 88 convertible. Wow lots of info and stories on here. Some background on her car. My wife drove this car to high school in the late 70's early eighties. Having the biggest car in the school parking it was the go to car to hit the beach after school and summertime. After high school and during college car got parked behind her grandfathers house for a while. Brother-in-law blew up the 425 and installed a 455 years later. Car ends up at our house 25 years later with a 10 year old paint job and tons of boxes of parts in trunk to put it back together. Now to find room in the garage next to my old Triumph Tr6.. Let the fun begin.

Nice looking car!

Gotta love your climate, my car also is from there and the body is near perfect. Yours looks very solid as well. When I was down there for a pre purchase look, I was blown away by all the 70s models from all makes that were still on the street. Almost like a time machine. They had none of the typical rust problem we saw elsewhere in the US that eventually sent them to the scrap heap..

Welcome! You will like it here as many people love to help keep these cars on the road.

Hey John,
Needs dash and interior work- no glove box , speed o not working, no dash lights, no turn signal parts, no radio, steering wheel is taken apart. lots of wires hanging under dash.
under hood lots of hoses disconnected, engine runs very rough
both bumpers need new chrome
brakes pull to hard right side
bright side is paint is done.
thanks Jeff

If you don't have one already , a 1966 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual ;
Original 1966 Oldsmobile Shop Chassis Service Manual Genuine GM | eBay
It eliminates all the guess work . Wiring diagrams , vacuum diagram , etc.

Really nice convertible. Welcome to the best forum around. Nice color, Target Red (R) I assume. I suggest a purchase also of an assembly manual if available. Love those 66 convertibles.

Hi Wayne,
I ordered a Chassis service manual online yesterday following Charlie Jones suggestion. Is the assembly manual a different manual than chassis or same information with a different name.? I will need all the help I can get. Under the dash most of the wires and what looks like vacuum hoses are disconnected. Also not real sure on paint color. My brother-in-law had it painted about 10 years ago. kind of looks like a cranberry color in different sunlight.Car was painted a dark red about 40 years over a lighter color. I need to decode the plate in engine bay to be sure.
Thanks Jeff

Jeff, Chassis Service Manual is a good start. I did some checking and I couldn't find a assembly manual for the large body cars. One may not exist so the 1966 Chasis Service Manual is your #1 choice. Another Manual would be The 1966 Fisher Body Manual. Covers items installed by Fisher Body. In the engine bay you will find a small metal plate on the cowl. It has some data codes. Post a picture of it and we can identify some things about the car. It is a good looking car.

So far as I know , no one re-produces a PIM ( assembly manual ) for " B " body cars .
That is something you only find in the " A " body world .
