Talking Newbie from San Antonio, Tx 72 cutlass

just purchased my first muscle car..woop woop.im 24 so this car is way older than me..aint nothing wrong with older chics...i have a 72 cutlass with 350, mild cam, longtube headers, edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock 1406 4 barrel carb. true duals flowmasters, original interior, bench seats, all windows good, little rust..im having trouble getting fuel to fuel pump. just replace fuel pump, wondering how i can determine if lines are clogged?..much help, thanks

Being it is a '72, you should check the rubber hose sections of the fuel line, from the tank up to the front. May have some old age cracks and will suck air, causing no fuel up the line.

thanks i will look at them..another question is i have 4 lines that run to my tank, what do all 4 of them do and which ones are my main ones? also i have 2 lines that run to my passenger side engine bay. which one is the main one i hook up to the fuel pump and return, thanks

Hit “Browse”

It's a fastback. The "coupe" you are referring to looks like yours but has a window frame on the doors. The "notch backed" models are Supremes.

Another olds in town.

Here is what I've heard done on 72s with the canaster. Take it out or plug the vacuum can or just plug your vapor return line. Also your vapor lines at the tank should be still hooked up. chk and see if still hooked up to the exhaust emissions system, behind the tank under the back seat and chk for cracked rubber lines here as previous post suggested. Depending on your current set up you may need a vented cap.

yea thanks. i replaced the rubber hoses from the fuel tank, still getting no fuel to the pump. next step is to change out the sending unit. that should clear everything out for me.

ok so i dropped the tank today to see whats going on. changed all the rubber out, so now clean rubber. the sending unit has one line, the main line, the sock was trash, looked like ancient screen..tank inside looks clean, no rust or what not. getting new unit tomorrow should be up and purring in no time.

starter help

will i have to take anything off or around my starter to take it off. it just went out on me today. took a look underneath the car and looks like i have to take off my passenger header..hopefully i dont, luckily i dont have my tools or i woulda had to learn the hard way, thanks in advance

Why would you take off the passenger header if the starter on the drivers side on and oldsmobile engine

just talked to the guy i bought it from, he said he replaced the engine but painted it gold, it might be a chevy 350 than.

That makes sences. If you have a chevy engine. Maybe look for a olds engine. I have two complete olds 350's. Complete carb to oil pan w/ all brackets. I live in houston. Just pm me.
