Newbie here - with impending color decision blues
Hello -
Fiiiiiiiiinally having my '71 442 convertible (I've had since '86) restored - loading out in first pic. Yay!
I need to decide on colors. I'm pretty set on going with blue (black top, interior and stripes) but I'm not sure the Viking is what I want. Maybe the Twilight from '70.
The second pic I believe is a '70 that I saw at the Auto Museum in Saratoga, NY a few years back and I'm hoping someone out there might be able to confidently identify the blue, if it is indeed an Olds color. (I checked with the museum and they're trying to track it down thru the owner but apparently not having much luck.)
Also, if anyone can point me to any pics of blue and black convertibles, I'd really appreciate it. I've google-imaged myself silly.
Thanks for any help!

Try this link on Bing. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...+442&FORM=IGRE
Welcome, perhaps the museum can take a picture of the data tag and email it to you for decoding if it's the original color. Also one of the guys here may know.

Thanks very much for the help everyone!
Some great looking cars on that Bing link. So many options ...
Diego - you're pretty sure? That's the color I'm leaning toward, just a little wary because I haven't found any other good photos of that specific color combo and that pic I posted was inside under museum lighting.
starfire - I painted it white the first time and always loved it. Just looking for a change this time, I guess. I think the right blue and black combo is a bit more subtle than most but quite classy.
Thanks again!

Normally I was gonna assume it was Viking Blue (because everyone loves that color) but it's a '70, and Viking Blue would have to be special-ordered (a member here owns one like it). So the next logical choice is Astro Blue. This color was shared with a number of other manufacturers, such as Pontiac (Bermuda Blue):

If you are not successful finding another Olds pic, try a GTO pic:

Thanks for all the help. I'm still confused though. I'm starting to think the pic I originally posted is actually Viking and just looks different under the lighting. I'm seeing a lot of Viking blue cars that look quite different. I know it really depends on the lighting inside and the sun outside, as well as the different striping they have - but are all these cars really the same color?
From the few pics I can find, I think the twilight is too dark to go with black stripes, not enough contrast.
So, I think I'm going with Viking, black top, wheels and grilles.
Or maybe white. Some beautiful black and whites out there.
Platinum silver is nice too.
Yellow's not completely off the table ...

I still say go with the white.... although Platinum silver with blue stripes is one sharp looking car.
The same colors can look different depending upon type of paint and even the primer used. Big difference if it is single stage or BC/CC. I prefer single stage on older cars, just my preference, and BC/CC is much more durable, easier to blend repairs or correct mistakes when painting.

Viking Blue was not available on the 4-4-2 in '70. Someone could have painted the '70 that color (and one member here owns a special-ordered car in that color), but the chances that car pictured is Viking Blue is slim.
But your car is a '71, and Viking Blue was an available color for the 4-4-2. It's very popular with Oldsmobile folks.
