Newbie here

I have read several threads over the past years, but have just enrolled when I took ownership of a 1985 Delta 88. Formerly was my father in law's car, 41k miles, hasn't been driven in over 10 years and been sitting unused since 1996 when he passed. I would like to drive it for a while then find a new owner for it. Currently, I am getting it to be driveable safely, then will move on to the appearance. I hope to rely on some of experience located here in the forum.

Welcome to the site, condolences to you, family, and friends. Make sure you clean out the fuel system well. The rest is just maintenance.

Welcome aboard.
Which model of Delta is it - Base, Royale, 2 or 4 door?

Keep in mind there's not really much market for these cars. You might want to drive it for awhile just on enjoy it. They are nice riding cars but sadly underpowered.

basic 4 dr. sedan, small V-8, ... it was the dealer's loss leader featured in the paper back in '85.

So not a lot of options. Probably not worth putting money into. Give it a detailing job and sell as is.

You "enrolled" here? Really? Did you have to fill out an application? What was the fee? How many credit hours? I've always wondered if I could get continuing education credit just by visiting this site. It appears I can!

Welcome to the group... Enjoy the ride for as long as you are willing to invest time, effort, and money into it... Who knows, with some minor repairs you may be surprised how long you can drive it or how quick you can find a buyer...

Welcome to the forum and good luck with all the future upgrades. That's a great job bringing her back to life.
