newbie with a big project

hey guys,
My name is grant and im building a 70 Cutlass SX
I have the original motor and trans and thanks to this site i am ignoring the advice of various friends to change out motor for a smc. Im going to rebuild the 455 with new pistons heads and intake etc. I have installed the hotchkis TVS with the Strange S60 rear end. I have Wilwood brakes on the way. Once i get the chassis rolling i can move it out of the garage and bring the body back, thats when the real work starts.... The body has been blasted and primed but has a good deal or rust that will need to be cut out. Thanks for all the info you guys have put together here.

Hi Grant,
Welcome!! I of course am a big SX fan and am very happy your keeping the original motor/trans. You won't be sorry! It's one of the unique features that make these cars so great. I think you'll find an unlimited source of information here that you can't get anywhere else. Good luck, keep everyone updated, and I'll be the first one to say...Pictures please!!

Welcome. I suggest that you either find new "friends" or educate them that the belly-button SBC swap will drop the value of the car by 50% or more, due to the rarity of a real SX. Unfortunately, most people only know the SBC sledgehammer approach.

Nice, should be a fun car. Although I would beg to differ Joe, the SBC is more of the fly swatter approach, it's the 455 that's the sledgehammer.
