We already KNOW it's an excellent site. Tell us something we don't know, such as about your car, where/when/how you got it, what your plans are for it, and post some photos.

Welcome aboard. You are entering the twilight zone of Oldsmobile fanatics and maniacs. Good luck and post some pics. Us Olds guys are a different breed. We are German Shepherds on steroids...

Thanks guys I have a 71 cutlass S thinking about turning it into 442.
Doing a full restoration I'm in the process of stripping paint off driver side and took front clip off. I will start a thread here real soon. Cant wait too hear your guys opinions.

71 was a great year, but I pretty much like any Cutlass. What color are you going to paint her when you're finished?

Lots of work ahead of you from the looks of that pic. You planning to do the body, then drop the frame or are you doing a frame on? I remember that green from when I was kid. Neighbor down the street had a 71 W30 car same color!

Trams question a update

Hey guys its been a while been busy with work but still dedicate a few hours a week to my car will put picks up soon
Do have a question I plan on taking my body off the frame here in a couple weeks so I can take the frame in to get sand blasted then I will bring it home and grind all the crappy welds down then send it back and get it powder coated

But my question is she had a 350 rocket in it and I plan on getting a 455 rocket for it can I use a th400 short tail in so I don't have to relocate the engine mounts and is that a good idea or not

Thanks

Figured out my color scheme!!!!😃 Was thinking red until I notice That there are too many red classic cars out there so I am going with a silver metalic main and for the hood stripes and pin stripe will be a gray metallic and black int and custom panels in it

455/400's were a standard combo for A body. Yes they were short tail for your year. Only difference I'm aware of is the TH400 uses different mounting holes than the TH350 in the existing trans cross brace. IIRC the thing you would have to change if you went long tail would be the driveshaft, not the engine or trans mounts.
