Hi everyone, my name is Tony. I've been around Olds pretty much my whole life, but absolutely have no knowledge about them whatsoever. My Father was a olds nut. He had 3 cars, 2 built with his own hands and 1 he bought off a friend. One of my biggest regrets in life was not helping and learning about his passion. At 18 I guess I was more interested in girls than cars, we bonded in other hobbies. I had no problem stealing one of his cars to head to the beach and chase girls around though. I just lost my dad last month due to cancer, and inherited one of the cars. It was the one he bought off his buddy about 2 years ago. 1970 old 442. I love the car and want to keep it so I can hand it down to my kids some day,but I have not one mechanical bone in the body. I got some pics I can post with some paperwork what was done to the car. hopefully someone can help me with some info. Thanks in advance.
Welcome to Classic Olds. Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. Seems you have a very nice car,and luckily should not need much to keep it realiable. If it don't have an " original" Olds Shop manual it would be wise of you to get one and they are usually available on
eBay. Take care and best of luck , Larry
Welcome to the site, my condolences to you in the loss of your dad. Advice is to just set your mind on learning how to do things yourself. We have some members hear that lacked basic mechanical skills and have completed some note worthy projects. There is wealth of info on this site and a lot of folks willing to help walk your through issues.
Thank you I sure will. He was a great man. I'm gonna get some vanity plates with his initials on it
I was introduced to Oldsmobiles when my dad took me home from the hospital in his '61 Dynamic sedan after my birth. You never forget your first ride. I shared that passion with him over the years with other Oldsmobiles (442s, 98s, a Delmont, Calais and Regency). I lost my dad to cancer as well and am reminded of him, his passion for life and his love for me every time I drive my Olds. Enjoy yours, savor his memory and motor on. Welcome to CO!
It doesn't really matter if you know much about these cars or not. Many of the answers you might seek are here within the posts others have done the favor of sharing their knowledge on. You can learn so much here.
