Have a '86 cutlass supreme with a floor shifter and was wondering if the plunger for shifter is bolted down or just in there so I can replace it because tip broke off so shift **** won't fit (factory ****)properly, any help is appreciated. .....

 

Pictures would help a lot! If memory serves that mine broke above the horse shoe clip.

Yes mine snapped right above horseshoe clip also,can I just remove the plunger or is it somehow fastened on at the base of the shifter. ...

 

Again, If memory serves, pull the horseshoe clip, remove broken pieces. Replace the plunger and new T-handle shove down on handle till the grove shows in the clip opening and replace the clip.

Do you have a new handle? If not here is a link. FYI I have a NOS burgundy one floating around here somewhere.

I have the original shifter it's jus that the inside where it holds it in place is broken on the inside,I just have the plunger sticking like a sore thumb....so to replace plunger just pull up on it correct, also is there a way to repair the inside of shifter. ....once again thanks for all the help.

 

If you should need to purchase another shifter, I have a few spares available... I also stock NOS handles and spare parts for the handle, However, no spare parts for the shifter itself...

 

Your taking me back 15 years plus. Any way you can post a picture of the area you are speaking of?
