NEWB

Hi everybody, I've been an OLDS guy since I was 9 years old (1970) when I found my dad's 1969 full line brochure and saw that Red 4-4-2! I bought my first car when I was 15 and have been able to keep it. It's a 1971 Cutlass S 2DHT. I have since added many other cars, trying not to stray off the path too far. Currently putting together an '82 Ninety-Eight 4DR, was a diesel and now a 455 +.020" sleeper, still some details to iron out like the fact that stall converters don't like 2:19 rear end rears! I'm also working on a '57 Pontiac that I made motor mounts and crossmember to install an Olds 403 and 200-4R trans. Next project will be my trailer puller, planning Rocket power there too!

Hey welcome to CO. If you are looking for some help with that rear axle ratio you should contact monzaz. He is very knowledgeable on that subject. Your '57 project sounds similar to my '46, I had to do the same thing in it to fit the 455/TH400.

Welcome

Everybody loves pics. you need 5 posts in newbie forum first then can navigate anywhere. 5 pics would work , or 4 I guess.

We actually removed that requirement. If a person is a registered user they are good to go.

Thumbs up

Cool I did not know that. So you just need 1 post or is there a way to register users now? See what happens when you don't have any free time on your hands

Yeah, Paul changed the requirements for "promotion" from newbie status to registered user just recently. We haven't made a big deal about it but it did seem that the 5 post two day requirement was causing a little confusion for new members. The requirement was originally instituted to allow moderators to monitor newbie activity as you know and weed out spammers however it seems we are actually stopping spammers even before they are even allowed on the site when we use the administrator cp daily. I personally review between a dozen to twenty or thirty applicants daily, don't know how many Paul reviews in addition to those. Now with a good cadre of moderators watching our forums if a few get through I am sure they will be identified and eliminated very quickly. And that's the long story of it...
