New to this world
I just purchased a 1971 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convert. Its Blue with white top and interior, front disc, electric windows, shoulder harness. in good shape and driving.
My first question is, this car has shoulder cross strap for the fron seats. It uses an extention to an extra seat belt that mounts on the floor on the ends of the back seats and then down to an extra belt mounted on the inside of the bucket seats. Is the extention how it really works? It seems a little rigged. I am missing one of the extensions for the passenger side. If this is the original way, does anyone have an extra extension?
Nice to meet everyone.

In 71 the conv. had only lap belts from the factory. Shoulder belts front and rear were dealer added options. Welcome to the site I also have a 71 vert. yours probably looks better than mine.

I guess it would be possible for the dealer to install them without the lap belts being the Deluxe type though?
I think it's supposed to be one belt and it bolts to the hole in the convertible top hinge support? It's supposed to be that way on my '68 but they could of changed things. On mine the belt would be sandwiched between the top cylinder cover and quarter trim panel just low enough to clear the top boot when it's installed, goes through a plastic sleeve so it doesn't bind or get worn I guess.
The belt mounted to the floor with an extension does seem weird but who knows?
They had seat belt extenders for people who were girth challenged?
Snake Oyl has those and can make the correct convertible shoulder harness. You would think they would have to be longer than the roof mounted shoulder straps but I'm not really sure. The end you bolt down is different than the roof mount, sort of looks like is like the floor mount type but it's flat and doesn't have those bumps that locks them together when you stack them and bolt them to the floor.

Post pictures of your car and the seat belt mounting issue when you can.
