New to the Olds Cutlass World

I have been lurking on this site and have learned alot. I have owned my 71 cutlass convertible since last March. I had the motor freshened up and re conditioned the interior in order to drive it over the summer. Between my wife and I we put 2500 miles on it this year and enjoyed every bit. It is now apart in the garage and I started the body work this week. The car is in great shape and I am excited to to see the body is pretty strait. I will look forward to posting and asking questions.

Thanks for your time
Kevin R

Hi Kevin. I just joined myself. I have a 69 Cutlass convertible that I picked up a couple of months ago. Really been enjoying driving it this fall. The 71 is a nice one. Good luck with the work.

Sounds like me. Also have a 71 vert. It is also in the garage being worked on after driving all summer. funds a little short so won't be able to do all I want but always next winter. Funny how your 2 to 3 year project becomes a lot longer. Where are you located?

Good luck with yours
Larry

Thank you for the welcomes. Here are a few photo's starting with the day I brought it home. My wife was a little suprised to see this car for the first time which is why I painted it all one color. The next photo is the day I put the epoxy primer on it and the last pic is in the work shop which was taken today. The goal is to have it in paint in Feb so I have March and April to put it back together and be driving a fresh car next summer. The more I get to know this car the more I like it.

Thank you for posting pictures of your project. But now you gotta 'splain to me what the story is on the H/O emblem on the drivers side front fender

Yes, I can see your wife wanting all one color, women are funny that way!

[quote=2blu442;127128]Thank you for posting pictures of your project. But now you gotta 'splain to me what the story is on the H/O emblem on the drivers side front fender

The story I got when I bought the car was that this was a persons project who replaced all of the sheet metal and then passed away. The doors had holes and studs for molding. the hood and grill are from a 442 the rear fenders are new. Since the car was painted ( it looked like base coat with no clear) and the H/O emblem was over that paint I assume it was put there on a whim. It was only on one side of the car. To the best of my knowledge it is a 71 Cutlass supreme. It was a column shift auto that has now been converted to floor shift with buckets. It has working AC and manual windows. When I am done it wil be a "cosmetic" 442 clone

I could be the third owner since the work was done and the owner who is going to finish and drive this car. Here is a picture as I drove the car all summer long
