New to the world of Olds

Well I just got my first Oldsmobile, it's an 1986 Cutlass Supreme that was completely stock when I got it. The only thing was the guy had for some reason decided to paint the car blue. The car started out silver but my dad had a '72 Cutlass Supreme that was the same color blue. I'm not really into destroying all of the originality of the car but would like to do a few inexpensive power upgrades. I've had lots of chevy's but this will be my first Olds to work on.

Welcome to the site. The reason the color was changed was because the silver color was fading. Olds was having trouble with that color, it did not have enough pigment in the color. I wanted silver for my 86 and 88 Cutlass but the dealer told me that I would have trouble with it later.

It still sucks the guy painted it blue cause he did a really rough job. He didn't paint under the trunk lid, door jams, or anything else that would make it seem a little more professional. Not to mention he kept a catalytic converter on it that was so stopped up the car almost wouldn't run. So I guess I couldn't expect too much.

Welcome to CO!
GM was having lots of trouble with most every color back then, when the "water colors" first came out.
My 86 has bad paint on the flat surfaces, too, even after being pampered most of its life.
I assume you have the 307 engine, smooth and reliable but low on power.
Not much you can do when it is healthy and running right, but this site you will enjoy:

Best of all, enjoy the luxury that the Olds offers and most Chevies don't...
