Hello I just joined the website and I have to say I love some of the pictures on here. I particularly like the picture of the black 1966 442 with cragar 5-hole rims (SICK). I have recently found a 1967 Cutlass Supreme in a junkyard. There are a lot of great parts still left on her, but after carefully looking over the car, I realized that there was going to be a ton of work needed just to get it drivable. The 330 and transmission are long gone and the right rear quarter panel is twisted like a pretzel.

My brother-in-law has a 1983 Toronado Caliente Convertible with a future restoration planned.

I hope to learn a lot about Oldsmobiles from you guys.

Matt aka Shermanator

Welcome! I would advise you not to look in junkyards for a project car. Craigslist and local classifieds are good places. Glad you have an interest like us in Oldsmobiles!

Welcome, once in a while you can find some really nice cars in junkyards (depends where you look), but Ebay has some killer deals if you wait long enough.

Oldsmaniac,

Thankyou for welcoming me to the site. The 67 Cutlass didn't look too bad at first and was complete except for the engine, trans, headlights, grille, and nose trim. The doors looked really good but the lower 2inches was rotted through in spots. My oringional intensions were to save it but all the little things kept adding up. The rear axle was pushed to the drivers side and twisted forward on the passengers side, so either the trailing arms or the frame is shot.

Thanks Citcapp. I am still in college so I might have to wait a while but my dream Olds is going to be a 1967 Cutlass (don't want to modify a real 442); with a G Machine Chassis:

with a seriously built fuel injected big block olds, with 275 front and 315 rear tires.

Welcome to the site Shermanator. One of the great things about Oldsmobiles is that unless it is ultra rare, they usually are pretty inexpensive when compared to Chevy's so you should be able to find a good deal. Good luck in your search.

Gather your information carefully, as project cars can often be the worst value due to the money needed to bring them back. But what you have in mind to do does not sound *too* expensive. Get the most "solid" car you can.

Yes, black '66 442s are cool!

If you have the money to build a car with a Swartz chassis then I would not even think about the car you posted in the wrecking yard. Buy a solid nice complete car. You will be miles ahead in the game 3000-5000.00 should get you a real good platform to start with. Good luck nice to see another guy with the pro-touring bug

Hi,
I am a proud owner of a 1983 Toronado convertible with all chrome bumpers, hubs, etc.... The interior has burgandy interior. Recently I had the rag top replaced (bright white) and the interior headliner was changed to a deep ruby red to match the leather. Great car. Drive it all the time. It is garage kept and has never been driven when there is snow or ice on the road.
I have owned this car since 1988 and had it handicap equipped back in 1996 after an unfortunate incident. Since I loved this car so much, it was a blessing of being able to install the equipment required for me to be able to drive again.
