New Jetstar 88 owner

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I just wanted to introduce my self and the new additions to the fleet. I recently acquired a '64 Jetstar 88 sedan. 330/st300 factory air. Supposedly has 65,000 original miles on it but who knows. It has been repainted one but don't know when. The paint on RF fender is popping so I will have to have it repainted. I think that it was hit on that side because the bumper appears to be a rechrome also.

Interior is in good shape with minimal tears. The headliner has a couple holes in it. The carpet in the passenger footwell is deteriorate so it needs changing and i think the heater core might be ruptured.

Motor starts right up and does not smoke. The front pump seal on the trans is leaking slightly. I've got the rear apart having one shaft welded on and change both axle bearing and seals. I don't think the gear oil was ever changed. It looked like molasses! lol

Plans call for minor repairs to it and drive it.

I am slowly learning about the Jetstar 88 only parts which is aggravating but I have always gravitated toward those cars for some reason. I also have a '64 Impala wagon which is like that to some degree.

I hope to glean a lot of knowledge from ya'll.

thx James

I also recently bought a J88 (64 mdl) and found out how "unique" some of the parts are but also how helpful the guys on this forum are at helping you sort through those issues. Also I learned through some trolling of their online catalogue that O'Reilly's has a lot of the mechanical stuff for these models. Stay with the forum, ask your questions or for advice, and you will find gobs of support and encouragement.
