New Guy from Northeast Oregon

Guten Morgen,

Have been restoring a 1970 Oldsmobile 98 and came across this wonderful site. Great information regarding all Oldsmobile issues, repairs and subject matter expertise. Project car can be viewed in my newly created album. Looking forward to future interactions and hopefully contribute with my experience of what not to do.

P.S.
Live near the intersection of the Oregon, Washington and Idaho borders in the Blue mountains which is 300 miles away from the Portland zoo and loony left.

1970 Olds 98 with lots of new parts Used as daily driver Custom music system plays AM/FM radio, CD, Sirius Satellite, MP3, Blue Tooth, Flash Stick, and 8 Track Tapes

Thank you! Initial car purchase of $500.00 was minimal compared to current investment dollars. Made a mistake and created a spreadsheet to account for all money sunk into the "Blue Chariot" - too far into it now.

Welcome to the site, very nice ride. I would imagine that we all feel the same when adding costs.

I dig big! Good looking Ninety Eight.

I realised long ago that if I kept up with all the expenses on my cars I would probably never do another one.

Great and beautiful area of country you're in. You're probably like we are in Southern Vajenya. People think everyone in the state is like urban and left-leaning Northern Virginia, but it ain't so.

I used to give my Mama subscription to "Our State" North Carolina magazine. I found the Virginia equivalent and gave her a year of that. Renewal time came and Mama said don't waste your money. 🤔 She said "if it's west of Richmond or south of Charlottesville they don't know anything about it". (Charlottesville is our equivalent of Portland.)

Great ride at even a greater price! Enjoy and welcome to this site. It's the best Oldsmobile site going, in my opinion. Are you in Enterprise?

The smoke was bad here for 12 days. And then, last Friday, we woke up and it was all gone! It's been real nice since then.

If you have a correctly functioning Comfortron you're worlds ahead of the game!

This car appears to be a Luxury Sedan? Top line car in Olds hierarchy, even above Toronado.

You also have the windshield wiper mist option. The black button in your shifter arm, if its working will give your wipers I think three swipes.

It is a Luxury Sedan. The Comfortron does work after many parts and frustrating labor hours. It has many moving electro/vacuum parts and was very, very temperamental. Was just lucky to have a service manual to work on it. Learned more than I wanted.

The windshield wiper mister option does work and provides three swipes as 2blu442 stated.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Nice big butiful old lady you have there, welcome aboard. I've spent many a week in the northeast Oregon area, fished around the Rooster Comes and shot a truck load of Roberson ground squirrels in that area. One of my favorite vacation spots. People there lean on the fence the same as I do..... Lost in the fifties ...Tedd
