New Guy from NJ w/ a Question

Hi All. I'm new to this site...thanks for having me.

I'm in the last stages of resortation on a 1968 442 - all stock, clean Idaho car. Has has the original 400, auto tran, posi, a/c.

The one question I have is that the air cleaner is orange - is that correct for a '68 with a 400? I haven't seen any photos of an orahnge air cleaner. If that is correct, any idea where I can get some paint. Eastwoods does not mention it in their catalogue.

Thanks for your help!

I don't know about that specific engine in that specific car, but in general high compression engines of that era had Olds Orange air cleaners, the orange in question is available from Fusick, and it's an excellent match.

Welcome.

Welcome to the site, fellow NJ'er. Best of luck with your restore wrap-up. Sounds like a nice 1!

Thanks for the info. I guess Olds orange is actually referred to as "red" in the Fusick catalogue (just like Pontiac's "carousel red" body color looked more like orange than red). Am I safe to order the red? Thanks again for your help.
