New Guy w/ Brake Question

So i'm rebuilding the drum brakes on my newly inherited 67 Cutlass 330cu 2bbl. The drums have studs attached- the replacements I see in the catalogs from RockAuto and Fusicks don't have the studs? Is there a way to liberate these studs- they look welded to the drum? What am I missing here- thanks. I tried tapping these out but didn't want to put to much into it and bend them.

Here's a picture of my drums- and the catalog pic.

That picture could just be a stock photo that they are using. You should speak with them and clarify. Good luck.

Those lug nuts are actually attached to the hub - which the drum is on. I pressed the hub out when I did mine. It ruined the old drum because it was stuck to the hub. A shop press makes short work of it.

I just went out and looked at them again- they are so stuck together they look like one piece. PB Blaster and a piece of wood and a hammer- no luck. They don't look bad or terribly worn on the shoe side- just old and rusted so i may just replace leaking wheel cylinders and reinstall the now stuck together hub-drum assembly.I guess at some point I will need the mechanical advantage of a shop press- thats a good idea!

The splines on the studs are pressed into both the hub and the drum, holding the two together. Sometimes the studs are even swaged at the drum. You need to press the studs out, freeing the drum for replacement. Use a press for this, not a hammer. If the studs are swaged, you should cut the swage off first, or you will open the holes in the hub, requiring oversized studs. DO NOT ask me how I know this...

Copy That. Wow- may need to bring these to a shop who can separate for me. I don't have the necessary equipment.
