New guy from Baltimore, Md with a 71 olds

Hi all,

Looking forward to gaining some much needed knowledge from the olds community. This was the ride I just bought recently outside of Chicago. I bought it in Jan. and am waiting to go pick it up at the end of March. I would say its 75% complete on the restoration to where I want to get it. Of course other in-depth money intensive projects may come later. I would like to get all of the true 442 parts to the car; rear bumper, hood, grille and then get it painted. Need to get the "OLDSMOBILE" trunk letters on the back if anybody knows of where i can get those. I'd also like to hear from some people in Baltimore, Maryland, DC, areas possible hook up and cruise but also for quality shops in the area. I need to get the thing painted, get some chrome redone, and add to the exhaust system. This will be my first attempt at a restoration project so I already know Im over my head but what better way to learn then to drive head first into the deep end. Im also only 26 so I have many years to learn.

Welcome to C.O.
Not too often we see the post 442s. If you want the 'true' parts on a 442 the trunk only has 442 numbers. The OLDSMOBILE letters were only for Cutlass Supreme. Hope you enjoy your car when you get it. 26 is a good starting point to learn and build. Good luck with your project

Welcome to the forum! Fusick's is a great place to get parts for your car. I ordered the "Oldsmobile" trunk letters from them. I think they were around $50 + shipping.

Welcome to the forum from another young post coupe owner.

And I agree, Fusick is a good source for parts.

Congrats & good luck. I guess the car is a clone, right? Enjoy it and build it how you like it.
