New Member Out of St Helens Oregon

First let me introduce Arlene to you. She is a 1966 Delta 88 with the 425 super jet. She is clean and loves the road..

My name is Nick and I'm new to this site. But I love all the holds out there.

Welcome to the site Nick! It's good to see another member from the Pacific Northwest! There's a handful of us here in Oregon, and maybe twice that many in Washington state. Please post pictures of your car when you have time.

How long has the honeymoon been?

Hello Nick, Hello Arlene! What a great couple. Welcome to C.O. How long have you and Arlene been going together? I know how these love affairs work out my friend. First she'll coddle you by giving all that lovely ride and power you'll quickly come to expect. Then she'll start wanting things like a new pair of shoes, coat of paint, renovate the interior, oodles of 'little piddly' maintenance etc.... I know how women work......

Most of us on this site know the love you are going through. However keep in mind that you have a sickness that will require more money than hospitalization over the long run. Think I'm kidding? Spend more money and time with Arlene than your other half and watch what happens

There! Now that you know that old cars as a hobby can drain you one way or another, let's hear more about your plans for Arlene.

Welcome. I'm just across the river at Woodland WA and even though I can see St. Helens from my house, it's a long drive since no bridges nearby. Lots of good members on the site and in Oregon and Washington.

Thanks for all the welcomes...

Woodland I think I can skip a rock your way...Your right gotta drive clear to longview to get across. Any way thanks for all the welcomes. I will post pics as soon as I figure out to with my phone. But I will say that I lucked out.
I am the 3rd owner of Arlene. It was naught new in Eugene Oregon by Arlene herself. This was in April of 66. I know this because she kept all of her paperwork with the car. Including plates and the original temp license.

She will need a paint job but no rust body straight and interior is flawless. Does need tune up the usual but she is pretty.

First, welcome.

Second, I think your engine is actually called a "Super Rocket." The standard engine on the '66 Delta (and Dynamic) was a 2-bbl, 310 hp 425 V-8 with that name. Optional was a 4-bbl version, also called a Super Rocket, putting out 365 hp. Also optional was a 375 hp version with 4-bbl carb, higher compression (10.5 to 1 instead of 10.25 to 1), and high-lift camshaft. It was called the "Sky Rocket" and was standard on the Starfire and optional on the Delta 88 and 98 (but not the Dynamic 88).
