New Guy

I am new to this forum as of yesterday. I was looking for some info on my 72 Cutlass Convertible and found plenty here. I am currently in the process of upgrading the 8.5 10 bolt from a 2.73 to a 3.42 gearset with a Detroit TruTrac limited slip differential. At the same time I am going to upgrade to the Serious Street 4 wheel disc setup from Baer Brakes. My problems started when Randy's Ring and Pinion sent me gears and differential for the gm 8.2. They didn't seem to know that the 10 bolt for 72 was a 8.5 in. ring gear. Everything is corrected and new parts are on the way! Jim from jdrace.com had a lot of good info. to help me explain to the salesperson what I was looking for.

You need to be talking to Monzaz. He is the differential king on this site. Welcome to CO.

I believe Jim from jdrace.com is Monzaz. I have read most of his posts and visited his website which confirmed what I knew about the 8.5 10 bolt I have in my car. I have owned my car for about 5 yrs and thought I had visited most Oldsmobile sites until I found this one just the other day. You guys look to be a good group. I don't see any of the nasty attitudes you find on some sites. If I can figure out how to post pictures of my car I will. If anyone knows how let me know.
