Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of talented members here. Post photos of your '64 if you can. Search the forum for information. Get a 1964 Oldsmobile Service Manual if possible. Read it. It is full of information about your car.

Adding to what Ozzie stated, and from a previous post by Ozzie (in another thread) the 1964 Oldsmobile model year contained five manuals (volumes). It is your bible for maintenance, repair, etc.

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...964-pdf-85857/

As said, in 1964, there were five separate books.
#1: General Information; Periodic Maintenance; Engine; Carburetion; Engine Tune-up
#2: Hydramatic & Jetaway; Synchromesh & Clutch
#3: Steering; Suspension; Differential & Propeller Shaft
#4: Instrument Panel & Accessories; Electrical; Heater & Air Conditioner
#5: Frame; Bumpers; Chassis Sheet Metal Body
The version on CD would probably be less expensive than the original books.

One key thing to remember is that in 1964 a Jetstar 88 was a law unto itself and has little in common with other 1964 big Oldsmobiles except sheetmetal and interior. Has more in common with the Cutlass and 1964 big Chevys. Joe Padavano is your guru.

Adding photo.

Hey all,

I had intended to attach a photo, but forgot.

it looks great in photos 😂. It's going to take a fair amount of work for the dream to be seen.

It looks good to me. All in one piece and driveable is light years ahead of some projects.

Congratulations and welcome aboard !

I had a low compression 330 mated to a 3 sp manual on the column. (Cutlass Coupe) From the time I was 18 years old till I was 35/36. Kick *** engine, obviously being young and a heavy footed that 330 went to hell and back and was still running great the day I sold it. Mid 1990s the trans went, mid 2000s the rear went. That 330 was just fine though, and well over 100,000 miles at that point.

Hear Hear, well said Orlando. I meant to address this in my previous post.

Not that you need to be sold on this 4door64Jetstar88, But I along with many others are very grateful that this site exists. We likely have some of the most knowledgeable Oldsmobile guys on earth in this very site. At times its literally like asking Amazon Alexa or Google a question. Quick, concise, and accurate answers. Sure members can get cranky or flustered at times. That can happen when your human and have been asked the same question day in day out for decades.

I've been into this scene since I was a kid tagging along with my brothers circa 1980. Many an old school car guy weren't / aren't internet savvy nor want to be. So we really need to appreciate that we have such members here. In a word its AWESOME. Your not trying to remember what was told to you 15, 20, 30, years ago. Its written to be studied like a never ending book.

Thanks one and all for this website.

Very nice. I owned a 2-door version of your car back in the '90s.
