Grand Daughter Sami claiming 62 Cutlass 7 Years ago

1955 Olds Super 88 2 Door Holiday Hardtop

Hand built Roadster Royale with 62 Cutlass body Chopped and Channeled on Dodge truck frame with Cummins C Series Diesel and 6 Speed Allison

Hi, I'm Rodney from the California Sierra Mtns. I have been into Oldsmobile's a long time. I have owned my a 62 Cutlass Sport Coupe for 35 years and my 55 Super 88 for 25 years. I built a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang !!! 30's Duesenberg,Cord,Auburn replica from a rusted out 62 Cutlass body with a Dodge pick up frame and Cummis C Series Diesel with 6 Speed Allison. I have never left anything stock in my life and nothing is restored to factory specs. Everything I own has up-dated disc brakes and power steering. Most have major engine, transmission and differential changes. Purist can rag on me all they want, I'm old enough and have the thick skin to take it.

Welcome to the group... Some very nice looking rides you have... If your grand daughter claimed your Cutlass 7 years ago, then it would seem she is almost old enough to start driving it by now...

She was 5 at the time, she is big for her age still. I'm care taking it for a another 2-3 years. Her Mom and Uncle both learned to drive in it and commuted till they bought their own cars. Her Mom now says mabe she should get an econo box to learn to drive in. we will see.

It's a little different under the hood and underneath than you might expect. It has a 2002 Land Rover 4.6 4 bolt main, block and heads with the 215 Olds timing cover, distributor and oil pump up front with an Erson Cam, and Offenhauser 4 bbl intake with 600 fm carb mated to a Camero T5 5 speed transmission and Jaguar XJ12 320-1 Posi independent rear differential with inboard disc brakes, and 4 coil over rear shocks. Front has a disc brake conversion and power is supplied by an Olds Diesel Hydro-Boost system. Not your fathers Oldsmobile..

I dig the 70's look of the Cutlass, just needs aluminum slots to complete the look. Sidepipes are badass!

Welcome, cool rides!

Have you found the missing cylinders of your Cummins engine yet?

I can't say that I have. Maybe I should look up in the barn. They might be mixed in with all the Olds parts.

The problem with the whees

, is the Jaguar XJS v12 independent suspension needs wheels with alot of back spacing to fit under the wheel wells, Jag wheels were all I could find to fit.
Try fitting dual exhaust through and around that IRS Diff.

Wow, you weren't kidding about some modifications.

I've come back to this thread several times just to admire that roadster. I think we'd all like to see more pics of that car, too!

The Big Diesel Roadster Royale has its own story and pictures in the Newbie Forum titled 62 Cutlass 32 Roadster Royale Replica.
Thanks for asking Rodney

She plans on coming up weekends this summer to detail and work on it. She is 15 now. It's been stored in my barn for almost 5 years.
