new to forum. 72 Cutlass vert

Hi - I had a 72 Cutlass convertible, 350 4brl, in my late 20's and with a wife and 3 kids, had to sell her. The wife is now - X and my kids are grown (last one through college) so I picked up a 72 on the internet. It's been a driver but taken care of so I have a good base to begin some restoration. I've read a lot on the forum and have learned a good deal. I know I'll have questions so thanks in advance. Ed

thanks guys. first big expenditure...tunes. wanted to keep the dash integrity so a Kenwood unit is in the glove box with and IR remote under the dash. 2 4" speakers in where the dash speaker was and 2 5x7 in the rear seat. good sound. Beach Audio in Huntington Beach CA did a nice job. Owner there, Tom, has a sweet '70, 442 also.

Welcome, nice job on the stereo. I have one in my glove box also. I found after installing the remote wouldn't work thru the glove box door. You said you have a remote under the dash?

Pic of IR sensor under dash and remote control

Hi Greg - upper right of the picture is a small IR sensor. the remote allows volume, channel control, etc. with the unit in the glove box. pretty slick. Best, Ed

thanks. I was charged 3 hours of labor but well worth it. the young guy who did the job was very thorough and took pride in the job. the sound is great with the top up. haven't tried it top down. the speakers in the back seat is a strange design for sure. good luck and let me know how yours comes out. Ed
