Very nice ride, and a great way to introduce it with pictures. Post your questions

Nice. It's common for the 64-66 AT shifter handles to break, so I'm curious about the non-original one in your car.

Nice

If you're going to get a dream car that's a very good one to get. Enjoy!

I am not sure if it's the stock one or not...I don't have a picture of what the factory one looks like

Welcome to the forum. Lots of knowledge here. Good people. Find yourself a 66 Service Manual for sure. You have a nice car and it will be interesting what you learn about it's history. Love those 66 Cutlass Convertibles.

Good ones are tough to find, the inner workings of the shifter and handle
had a lot to be desired and you have to keep up with the 2 set screws on each
side of the handle and keep it tight. If not, that is when they go South.

Following along and I will 2nd the CSM for 66, good luck with her.

Just for fun, from published numbers:

There were 114130 Cutlasses of on kind or another built in 1966.
Of those only 12154 were convertibles.
If you back out the 2853 442 Convertibles built, that leaves us with 9301.
How many do we think are left? I don't know but you, I and some others have one.

Enjoy your new ride.

Stock or not....Dream car

Looks awesome. You are going to enjoy the hell out of showing it at shows etc. Most folks that saw my triple black cutlass said " is it a 442, does it have the 442 in it, obvious they had no clue but loved the car so I just said its a 455 but not a 442. They did not care and usually just told me how they or someone they knew had one that they loved. Enjoy your good fortune to have a legend that will always in our lifetime be coveted by folks.

Well said.....always loved them since I was 16...never got a chance to own one till I was 40..lol...better late than never. Now just trying to not go broke buying everything for it. But it's a nice cruiser for the summer and everywhere I go in it, I get thumbs up.

Don't go broke. Prioritize is the best. There are a good number of people on this forum that are good sources for parts. Check out parts for sale section in this forum. Also use the parts wanted section if you need something. I have had great results from several people on CO. I have the same problem.
