New England Newbie
I just happened to be looking through Craigslist when I found this car. I had typed in 1965 for a search thinking about a Mustang, when I saw the Cutlass. Truthfully I never really even considered an Oldsmobile, but when I saw the ad, and then checked out the car, I was sold. I have only had it for a week and the weather has been so crappy, I really haven't had a chance to drive it. I will say it is very reminiscent of a '67 Buick Skylark that I owned back in the 80's, great cruiser. I look forward to enjoying the car a soon (if) the sun comes out and hitting the local car shows. From the responses of the few people that have seen the car, it is sure to get its share of compliments.
I am sure this site and the people on it will be a great resource and I have already enjoyed the many pictures and posts.
Now if it would just stop raining!

Here's a shot of the interior. The car was a one owner car from Tenn. until the owner passed sometime in the early 2000's. The family kept the car for another decade before letting it go. It went through a light restoration in 2012 and was sold at Carlisle to the gentleman I bought it from. Has all of the original docs and is matching numbers.

And now for the obligatory chop-busting.
What numbers match? Have you seen them?
GM did not begin to stamp matching VIN derivatives on the block and transmission until 1968, so there are no numbers on this car to match...
... Unless you have the original Protect-O-Plate and all of the numbers match those on the card, in which case, I am pretty much in awe (and we'll all want to see pictures).
Nice looking car, though!
Welcome to ClassicOlds!

Funny! And I don't mind a little "chop busting" from my northerly neighbor. I do not have the POP, but I have the June 18, 1965 Car Invoice from Wallace Oldsmobile that has my VIN as 338375M371547, the motor number as T676853G, and the tranny as MK-213. wouldn't mind if someone could decode the VIN for me!

338375M371547 -
3: Division (Oldsmobile)
3: Series (Standard F-85)
8: Engine type (even=V8, odd=straight 6)
37: Body Style designation (Hardtop Coupe)
5: Model year (1965)
M: Plant (Lansing)
371547: Sequential number
so...
338375M: 1965 Oldsmobile F-85 V8 Hardtop ("Holiday") Coupe, made in Lansing.
T676853G -
T______G: 330ci, 4bbl, 10.25:1,
676853: 176,850th unit produced.
MK-213 -
MK is the Jetaway 2-speed automatic transmission used with the high compression 4bbl 330 V8 in A-body cars
213 is the date code, indicating that the transmission was built on the 213th day of the year.
As far as matching-ness goes, if the dealer invoice is genuine (and I say this because there is a lot of hanky panky involving paper, especially at the major auctions, and at places like Carlisle, where the PO bought this car), then your car can be said to be "numbers matching."

Well regardless of outcome on the numbers thing, it sure is a well taken care of car and even though I personally always wanted a Fox body convertible mustang but never got one ,I know you found a much better investment as much as I did. Enjoy your good fortune .

Thanks everyone !
The VIN info is especially appreciated.
Finally the weather broke yesterday and I got to get out for a ride with my girlfriend. Found the comments from the younger ones who have never been in a car that had a floor mounted dimmer switch the most interesting. They couldn't believe how many ashtrays the car has and that seat belts were an option! Guess we were tougher back then, smokin' riding around untethered
and flying through the windshield on impact!
