Post New to the Cutlass world

Hi all, I just purchased a 68 Cutlass S that has had a frame off restoration started. The guy was trying to clone it a 442. Well, anyway, ALL of the bolt on parts have been stolen, yes stolen. I have the car, new jasper engine and trans, and the beautiful paint and frame work. I have a lot of the engine parts already ordered but I am needing the brackets for the engine equipment, alt, pwr steering pump. Anyone know where I can order chrome brackets. It's a non-ac car and an automatic. I'll be visiting here daily for sure. Thx, Howie

Welcome, I'm sure some of the guys have the parts you require. Post a list in the parts wanted section.

To finish her up nice, sell the jasper engine if it is a Chebby and throw an Olds 350 or 455 in her! That car looks really nice in the pic. Keep her Olds even though a nice looking clone.

I am trying to find a set of polished aluminum pulleys, crank and water pump. Anyone with suggestions? Found some at summit racing and on Ebay but knowbody knows if they will fit. I have a stock water pump. Not sure if its a short or long.....

Welcome to the forum!

Nice car, ALL your parts were stolen? That sucks!!!

I don't envy you, all the odds and ends really nickel and dime you to death. But I'm sure she will be beutiful when she's done.

It looks like from the pics that its an original A/C car. Heat cars have a long horizontal rectangular hole in the firewall, and an A/C car has the vertical rectangular hole.

Good luck with your build, add pics when you can.

Welcome to the site! Yes, nice looking project car! There's lots of us here with spare parts. I'd encourage you to create a parts wanted thread and include your location. Who knows, there may be a member right across town with what you need. In my opinion easiest way to make sure something fits is purchase factory brackets/pulleys and have them chrome plated or powder coated to fit your preference.

dfire25,,,,, A/C car for real? Previous owner said it didn't have it installed. I was not going to install it. Would I need an A/C heater core so it will fit? thx, Howie

Yes, if you can find the factory components, which shouldn't be hard, it should fit. I'm going with a Vintage Air unit myself, but that's personal preference. Remember if you want to put in A/C, factory or aftermarket, get pulleys and brackets for an A/C car. They are differant then a heat only car.
