New '69 Cutlass Owner

Hello everybody. I just bought an old '69 Cutlass Supreme the other day. It seems like a pretty solid car but there's a lot of weird quirky things and lots of broken stuff. Can't wait to start working on it and get to know all of you Oldies.

Welcome to Co. A lot of 68-69 owners here. You'll fit right in.

Welcome to the site, looks very solid. Do you know who made those old slots?

Nice car to start, but it is a Cutlass 'S' and not a Supreme. VIN number should start with 336879.

Well I'm not quite sure, the car has had two or three previous owners and has been used as everything from a daily driver to a drag car at one point. From what I can tell most of the holes on the car are from torn off chrome trim.

Well I've started out just earlier today by wet sanding out some of the rust spots. That's been going good so far. The engine seems to run pretty good as it is so I'll probably just leave it alone unless it starts giving me trouble. I'm putting in front disk brakes because the current brakes are a little on the challenged side. The only other big problems are the heater doesn't work, the gauges are broken, and the quarter windows need repair

Is there a heater core in it and connected? The gauges are pretty simple, power and senders. On the quarter windows it depends on the issue.

Well the driver's side quarters is merely an issue of re-greasing the tracks because it gets stuck sometimes, but the passenger side quarter window needs to come out because it has been pulled apart from the chrome edge of the window which has created a gap.

You may only need a set of shoes or an adjustment, both of which are a lot cheaper and easier than a complete brake swap.

Welcome to ClassicOlds.
