Never introduce myself to CO

Hello everybody I have used Classicoldsmobile.com from time to time (for a couple years now) to trouble shoot my 84 Cutlass Supreme. I am from Burkburnett, TX, I purchased my cutlass in Wichita falls, TX when I was 16. It was my first car ever and it when I got it did not run, for a few reasons. The main reason was the 307 was completely wore out, over heating, leaking oil(the oil filter was re-used with the rubber removed tightened down metal to metal). It was misfiring on several cylinders. I tried and tried to get it to run properly but with the black spaghetti vacuum hoses it seemed impossible. More and more problems were uncovered as I started looking into it. My grand father new the people and said he trusted them, they said it was a great car it just needed some work. Being 16 I was young and new nothing about cars. The people said that it had 350 in it, ran the numbers and sure enough it was a 307. Any ways I began taking things apart, the further I got into it the more I could tell it was ghetto rigged. The 2004r wasn't even bolted in the cross member was just sitting on the frame and the transmission just sitting on it. I was so pissed and lucky I had not drove it on the high way. After I got it taken apart it sat for a year before I got another motor and trans for it. I went thro the wiring under the hood and it too was just rigged together. My car would not start sometime and it was because of the fact that there was a bunch of wires tied together coming from the start and back to the starter. Who ever had it before me butchered this car. I redid the wiring and just ran the main wire powering the everything under the dash to battery instead of down to the starter by the hot exhaust manifold. It took me a year to find a good engine, I had lucked out. I had found another Olds cutlass g body and it had been restored right before the kid wrecked it. I found it in OKC, this car was beautiful aside from the whole suspension being whipped out due to it being driven into some rail road tracks. It was painted dark green w/ metallic flake, it was a shame to see this car like this, hell even the ac and power windows worked. Any was back to the story, Under the hood was an Oldsmobile 350 Rocket that had searching high and low for. I couldn't find one anywhere around here, junk yard after junk yard nobody had one. Do you know the idiots said just put a chebby in it? A lot. But I had finally found one for $700 and worth every penny. To this day my engines hasn't leaked a drop of oil. It had a th350c behind it and I put my 2004r behind it with a TCI torque converter lockup kit, a 10 vain pump and a couple nuts to replace the spring(that had broken any way) for second gear. My car runs amazing now and a lot of it is because of all you good people here at CO. You have helped me so much with my DREAM car and I couldn't thank you enough for all that you have done for me and my car. I look forward to hearing back from you all.

Absolutely DO NOT cuss when posting on Classicc Olds.

FWIW, I spent $300 on a 455 and TH 400 a few years back in OKC. $700 might have been a bit high for a 350, but at least you found one.

I sincerely apologize, I didn't mean to offend anybody and if I did I am sorry. I really like CO and the people that use. It will not happen again I promise, I am still new to the cite and it rules. It just made me angry how many people tried to talk me into using chevy motor.

Any ways I could see the motor was solid and a lot of work had been done to it. It had a remand 4 barrel in it, the distributor was new, he said it was just rebuilt and the guy seemed really honest. I believed him considering it had brand new gaskets, fresh silicone, clean gold paint, new water pump, new alternator, a good a/c compressor(I know because the a/c was ice cold), new plugs and wires. In addition to everything I got the radiator which was also brand new. I still think it was well worth it hands down.

That's good that the engine had been recently rebuilt. The 455 I got was 40+ years old. As long as you're happy that is what counts.

I fixed it. Sorry, I missed the cussing in the "quote." I thought it updated when I changed the original post.
