My Rocket and I
Hey y'all! My name is Adam and Im from Tacoma Washington. I've recently become the proud new owner of a 1959 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88! I bought this car not running but with virtually no rust in the body. I have absolutely no knowledge of Oldsmobiles but I am looking forward to learning a lot about these beautiful old cars!

Welcome to Classic Olds.I read your other post about the engine being seized and you were looking for another engine. Be patient ,there's probably 100 people on this site that own cars that had stuck engines when they bought the cars. Check the exterior possibilities first. It could be the alternator, power steering pump or water pump locking the engine and keeping it from turning over.
If this is not the case, pull the plugs and spray penetrating oil or a mixture of diesel fuel and automatic transmission fluid into each cylinder and let it set a few days before trying to turn it over. Just keep repeating this every few days.
If you can get it unstuck ,it may be a better engine than most used ones you will find, and will save you the cost of the engine plus a lot of labor.
I bet others will agree with me! Best of luck ,Larry

Yep. That one's had it.
May be rebuildable, though.
I like the idea of a 394, though I think I remember something about differences in castings between 394s and earlier blocks. Other folks will know more.

Unless the lower end is messed up it looks rebuild able to me. You would at least know what was done and trust worthy. My concerns would be with the transmission, I've never been a fan of the Slim Jim..... Tedd

In 59 the 371 was standard in the Dynamic while the 394 was standard in the Super 88 and 98. If no cracks that engine would be rebuildable. The 371 for 59 was not the same as the earlier 371 engines as it was based on the 394 which would be a direct swap. The bore size was the only real difference.
