I wish to introduce myself to the Classic Oldsmobile site; I am a lifelong automobile fanatic I have a small collection of automobiles. My Oldsmobile is a 1969 442 convertible that has been with me since 1985. The Olds is number matching and runs great but is cosmetically in poor condition.
I am looking forward to being a member of this site and sharing information with other Oldsmobile enthusiasts.

Hello and welcome to the site. You have what I would consider a 'sister' to my first Olds. I've also owned mine since '85 and its restoration was many years in the making due to college, kids, etc. Looks like yours may have a gold interior. Mine is black. Originally had a parchment top but I changed that to black a couple of years after finally doing bodywork and paint.
I'm a fan of the gold colors used back then so I always knew I would repaint the car in its original Topaz but I had no idea just how gorgeous that color originally was. Here are a couple of shots of my car prior to my putting the top on to maybe help you visualize just how nice Topaz can be. One word of warning if you plan on painting it - the commercially available shade according to the original color code is way off. Much too bright and yellow. Luckily, my original decklid had good paint on the underside which we were able to color match.
Welcome to the best Olds site that is existance today (and tomorrow and probably forever!). Be sure to ask questions if you have any about your car as there is lots of expertise here ready to help you out. I have found this to be true especially for the '68 and '69 model years. Enjoy!

Thank you for sharing the photos of your Topaz Gold 442 with me! I also acquired my Topaz Gold Oldsmobile convertible in 1985 from the car's second owner who was also my neighbor. I like automobiles painted gold and this is a photo of my other gold convertible. Mercedes Benz R129

I took early retirement and now I have the time to be active at this site.
Nice Mercedes. Can you provide more info and pictures of your 442? I'm curious as to its options, rear gear ratio, etc. Anything you could provide.
I will be glad to make additional photographs of my Olds to show you as well as give you additional details about the car. Currently, my 442 is in the shop having a new water pump, fuel pump, and radiator installed. I will make some photos when the work is completed. I believe my 1969 was one of the late builds because according to the body trim tag it was built the second week of July 1969.
Does anyone know what week in July Oldsmobile typically stopped production to switch to the next model year's production? My Oldsmobile's body tag
