Just bought a 1965 Oldsmobile 98

Hey everyone,
I am completely new to both classic cars and Oldsmobile. I just picked up a 1965 Olds 98 with original 60,000 miles on it. Everything was rebuilt on it about 6 years ago. This thing runs like a brand new car. I couldnt be happier with it. I am sure i will have plenty of questions as time goes on. If anyone has any info on this model, let me know. Thanks alot

Nice. The 60s Ninety Eights probably defined them better than any other years. It was an unabashedly American style of luxury car- big, fast, well-appointed, and ready to go out and travel the nascent Interstate highway system at ludicrous speeds, leaving the smell of burnt high-octane fuel in its wake.

Anyone notice that even though that car is moto-moto HUGE, how light on its feet it looks?

yea, I am really loving it so far. I would love to redo the interior a bit. Also, I will need to get a rear bumper. Its got a couple of rust holes on the bottom and a dent in the back. Any idea on where to find one??

Welcome to CO! Nice looking car. I love the 60's 4dr no post hardtop look. I'm sure someone here may have a good lead for you on a rear bumper. You could also check out the Desert Valley Auto Part site, you might find a good rust free core from the southwest to rechrome.

They are great cars, I had a saffron yellow with black interior 2 door hardtop, it was loaded with options, the most loaded 65 I have ever seen. They ride so smooth, the best riding Olds I have ever owned. You can get the original cloth for those seats at SMS Auto Upholstery in Oregon. The back bumpers are hard to find even here in Los Angeles they rusted out, just a bad design everything gets caught on the bumper brackets and they rust. Great car, love to see the big ones on the road. Welcome to the site. Paul

One of the best resources you can have for your '65 is the Assembly Manual. It is available free of charge in downloadable pdf format on Wild About Cars. And that particular manual you will not find anywhere else!
You'll find a lot more there too.

Wild About Cars. http://wildaboutcars.com. An information supersource, especially Oldsmobile. More Olds content than anywhere else on the internet and continuing to grow.
You'll find Chassis Service Manuals, Product Information Manuals (AKA Assembly Manuals), Inspector's Manuals, and other documents that will contain this and much much more.
Dealer Brochures, magazine ads and articles, and the Automotive History Preservation Society library growing daily.

65, any chance you bought this bumper? I noticed it was in FL like you. Hope so, because I recalled stumbling across that auctio last week and went back to it only to see that it was sold.
