Cool New guy here just bought a 1966 Oldsmobile 442 convertable

I just bought a 66 olds 442 convertable in relatively good shape all works except the top. Just wanted to get some info on the value on what my car will be worth fixed up. It's all original with a rebuilt number matching engine, also it needs painted would it hurt the value to make it orange vs the original paint color of maroon. Also if I repaint the metal on the original seats and reupholster them does it hurt the value by much other than that I don't plan on changing the car.u

According to this site, in showroom condition, about $40,000 plus or minus the various items in the footnotes.

Changes from originality would likely affect the value, but who's to say how much. Once you start getting into any kind of customizing, you most likely decrease the value as you start limiting the number of possible buyers to those who like the customization. Anything that's easily reversed probably hurts the value less than something that's more difficult or costly to change back to original.

The NADA guides are notorious for being about a factor of two or three higher in their values than the other guides out there, but in this case the NADA value is pretty much in line with Collector Car Market Review. The range is wide, but it seems that this car is likely worth somewhere in the, say, $25,000 to $45,000 range.
