Inherited a 1969 Cutlass Convertible

Hello,

My name is Sean.

My Dad (still alive) used to have a 1969 Cutlass convertible, it has the 350 Rocket, that my brother had sort of taken over after borrowing. It was in good shape 20 years ago. My brother drove it for about 10 years, then put about $5,000 into it mechanically and a new top. He then drove it for 3 years then parked it. Last year I decided to borrow it off of him. I have a friend that is an excellent mechanic that restores old cars for people that have a lot more money than me. Over the winter he made it mechanically sound, couple more things to do but it will be safe to drive. On July 8th I am hosting my Brother's Celebration of life. I am thankful to be driving it to the event. After it is done it will be driven to my body to finish up some of his to do list on the car.

With my brother's death and actually driving it the car has moved from a "will be fun to have" to a more personal project. Once it gets back to me I can start working on the interior. Cleaning up and replacing worn out pieces over time. It really is a fun cruising car on a nice day with the top off.

I really have zero mechanical skills for vehicles. I am not afraid to learn things though. Looking forward to learning here.

Thanks for reading.

Sorry to hear about your brother. Enjoy your car, though, and you've joined the best site for gathering and learning info about your Oldsmobile. When you get a chance, post some pictures for us.
