Talking I finally bought one (1970 Olds 98)

Hi guys,

I moved to the US two years ago, and coming from Germany I had to sell my toys over there so was looking for a new one. Finally found an affordable 1970 98 in Orlando
https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...olds-98-a.html
The car is still waiting to be shipped to Texas, I'm sure I will come back to this forum with lots of questions. Issues I have seen when driving the car 150 miles:
1) Exhaust manifold leak (probably just needs a gasket)
2) Power steering has lots of play (any help appreciated)
3) Weather stripping is hard as stone (driver and passenger side windows are really bad) - where would I purchase it best?

Looking forward to working on the car!

Gotta ask ... how tall are you? I don't joke ... I need a damn step stool to reach the air cleaner nut on my '81 Custom Cruiser ... and that's smaller than your '70 98

6 ft, no problem to reach the air cleaner.

Welcome aboard, Captain! You are an honorary member of the Land Yachts Club on this site.

re: exhaust manifold leak. Depends where the leak is. If you need an exhaust manifold gasket, see what the local parts shops can give you for a deal. Then compare at www.Rockauto.com A set of Fel-pro should be around 6.50 + shipping or 10.00 at O'Reillys

re: sloppy steering? Probably. Most likely it needs ball joints, inner/outer tie rods and and shocks.

re: weather stripping. That could be a challenge. Metro sells a kit for the convertible, but not HT. Steele Rubber Products sells weatherstrip by the foot. See if any of this looks close.
