Howdy from mid-MI

Hey everybody,
Just joined up and thought I'd say hi! I own a '68 cutlass supreme that's in the middle of a fix up(parts all over the garage)
I'm still working on the motor at school and so far we're putting 552 hp and 610 ftlbs down on the dyno running on ethanol. It's still pulling about an inch of vac. on top though. I was running the torker but switched to the holley street dominator wich helped but we think the carb(750) is too small for what we're doing. For the trans I have a 400 with a gear vendors overdrive and a ford 9in out back(i know, i know) with 3:50 gears. I'm getting started on the front end suspension soon. I was also wondering what that kind of power would get me in the quarter, peak torque was at 4900 rpm and peak hp was at 5500 with over 510 ft. lbs. from 2500 to 5500.

Welcome .....sounds like a killer combo and look forward to seeing more. I agree that 750 cfm is probably a bottle neck on that monster. Minimum i would run is 850 or better yet a 950HP series carb. Keep us updated and share details of the long block if you are willing.

Welcome aboard

Sounds like a killer machine. Can't wait to see the pictures and some dyno sheets. I run a Holly 770 on my 462 with roller rocker cam and top end with keith black pistons, 10+ compression, aluminum heads, etc,and it is a little light thinking about moving up myself to an 850.

Hey, a bit on the long block: it's a '70 455, .030 over, eagle cast steel crank, eagle rods, diamond forged pistons, I'm running somewhere around 12:1 comp ratio. halo cap girdle from j&s machine, milodon windage tray, edlbrock heads ported by me a lunati cam(I forget the specs and the cam card's at school) manton pushrods, harland sharp rockers, holley street dominator, a 1 inch hvh super sucker tapered spacer, and a quick fuel 750 ethanol carb at the moment.
We also did alot of engine coating, all the rods and the crank throws, the girdle and windage tray and the bottom of the intake and the bottoms of the pistons are coated with a oil shedder/thermal dispersant.
The tops of the pistons and the combustion chamber and valves have a ciramic heat barrier.
And all the bearings, the cam and piston skirts are dry film lube coated. those runs were made on e-75 as well, the winter ethanoll blend.
We're hoping to pick up a few more hp with the carb change and more alky in the mix.

Hey, quick question.
Does anybody make a poly engine mount? I've been looking and can't find any.
