Howdy
Just to introduce myself -- I'm the new owner of a '72 Cutlass Supreme ragtop, a classic 10-to-15 footer in need of some mechanical and cosmetic TLC. The car is unmodified, save for an aftermarket radio, and I'm leaning toward keeping it that way. I've had a 68 Chevy C-20 for years, so I'm not totally unfamiliar with owning Old Iron, but I'm a lousy wrench and know to call the pros in save for the simplest of tasks. Believe in driving these fine vehicles, not looking at them in the garage. And have lots of questions about the best way to bring this Cutlass back to a higher level.

Welcome. My first suggestion is to purchase FACTORY Chassis service manuals and the body manual. Also a owners manual. Do not know if there was a separate covertible owners guide for your year. Even if you do not do your own wrenching, have them to show your mechanic and help you understand your car.

Thanks for the reminder, Patrick. That's exactly what I did when I bought my '68 C-20 about a dozen years ago. Wise counsel given that most mechanics these days haven't worked on cars like this. My Cutlass is strictly stock, save for the radio, and came with the owner's manual, Protect-O-Plate and, I believe, a thinner Emission Control Guide. Owner's manual covered it all, from convertible to Vista Cruiser.
