Hi ALL! New here.....Need some advice..

Hello all, I have been on here plenty over the years and got alot of good useful info, so thanks! Finally joined, and i need a hand lol....Im having issues with my 70, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas...? Some times she starts, sometimes nothing....no cranking, turning over, clicking......depends on how many times you turn the key lol.....very annoying, would it have anything to do with that little black fused wire going to the relay on the dr.side fender?

Hot battery with clean terminals?
Check and make sure you have
solid grounds. There is a braided wire
behind # 8 cyl. head that should be attached
to the firewall as well.

When you turn the ignition, do the idiot lights on the dash come on?

Sounds to me like a bad starter solenoid. Does it fail more often when the engine is hot? If possible, when it's failing see if you can give the solenoid a whack on the metal part (not near the terminals) and see if it helps.

Check your bulk head by the firewall where the wires pass threw it somtimes if they are not clicked in all the way this will happen.
It happen to me in another car. would start at random.
It was a bad connection between the inner and outer harness.

Do you have a remote starter switch? You clip it onto the solenoid, hit the button and if your starter and solenoid are good and you have power it'll crank. You may be having a problem with the ignition switch itself, but the solenoid is a much more common failure point. The remote starter will point you in the right direction.

If you have a known good starter
and solenoid, I would put my $ on the
starter switch on the steering column
to be either bad or not adjusted properly,
or have a bad connection there.

Have you tried to start it in neutral
with your foot on the brake?
Sometimes those neutral safety switches
can do funny things as well. Good luck,
you'll get it.
