Talking Hello From Northern BC

Hey Everyone,

I just aquired my first Olds last year. I got a 71 Cutlass S with a 350 in it from the second owner. Sat under a tree for 10 years before I pulled it home.

I have been bugging a guy from a local car group for olds info and he pointed me here. like 15 hours of reading on here now so far lol thanks for all the great info.

Heres a few pics since I just recently started working on it. To start off the project I am putting in new springs, shocks, complete brakes master lines everything, 4.11s and a posi dual exhaust with header dumps lol woohoo, and upgrading from a 2 barrel to a 650 holly with a mild cam. Gota pull accessories again already did the timing chain. I have never seen a running motor where I could push the chain against the block and past the middle of the timing gears and it was still running.....

Just finishing up making big block headers fit my small block. then brakes then shocks then burnouts!

I am up in Prince George, wish I had a garage still snowy and cold. Thanks fellas, I hoping to drive it and "resto-mod" it over the next couple years. Driving it this year for sure and having some fun is the number one priority. minus safety anyway lol. Not sure if I want to swap a different engine trans in. That wont be any time soon though. I know it needs rings probly bearings throughout but when I go that far ill be head porting and probly upgrading the intake to better suit the holly. Mild performance upgrades and cruising for now!

An another hello from the island! Great to see another '71 sort of in the area. I have a couple sets of correct grills (same style as yours) in used but restorable condition if you're looking for replacements.

Most definitely! I have a bunch of parts that will fit your car including a really nice driver quality front bumper and a few grills to pick from.

Thanks, Stan. Yep, that's the bumper on used vic. I bought a car primarily to get that bumper for my '71 then wound up buying a rechromed bumper to use instead.

4.11s why?

You will hate those 4.11 gears everywhere but a racetrack. Reconsider the gear swap based on how you plan to use the car. 3.42s in your original 8.5" rear end are a good compromise.

4.11s just because I have them and 4.10s too just sitting around. I have 3 sets. 3.42s would be good ill look around see if I can scrounge a set or trade one of these sets for one.
