Hello from Newmarket, Ontario
Hello everyone. I've been browsing this site and very enjoyable reading about all the different OLDS out there. A little history from me would be in order
I've loved Cutlass's since I was a teenager watching my older brother rebuild them for over 32 years. Problem was and is that I was born with 2 left hands and couldn't fix a faucet never mind rebuild a car from the ground up. Put me in front of a computer and bingo bango I'm rocking but lay out a spec on a car and it's like I'm reading gibberish. Anyway the moment finally arrived this December when my current wife gave me the ok to buy my dream car. With the help of my brother we found a real survivor that had been vacuum sealed LOL as he puts it and I'm over the moon. I bought a 1969 Cutlass S 350 2 barrel that I plan on turning into a 442 over time with the help of my brother. The sucker is in my garage right now in storage(somehow convinced the wife that her car was better outside in the snow heheh) where I fire her up every 2 weeks or so to keep the olds happy.
Anyway I'll post some pics and look forward to learning all I can from my brother and everyone else here. Please take it easy on me even when the questions sound dumb because I really am a complete newb

Nice find, your brother sounds like a good friend as well which is a bonus. Great bunch of guys here to help you out so ask away. We have heard lots of questions from left and right field no worries

The car was originally from South Carolina and was brought up here to Ontario in 1991. The 2 guys that owned it before me really took excellent care of the car.
Hello from Manitoba, sweet car. Why would you want to turn it into a 442. Worth more as it sits, maybe play with the engine a bit but body wise I wouldn't change it. I am restoring my 77, changing the drivetrain, but the body and interior will stay original. My 2 cents

He's a great guy. I'll try and get him to join this site because he really knows his stuff as a hobbyist.

Just remember that alot of these Goldmobile's lol, have gone to the crusher, if you are going to do anything, change things that are easy enough to change back in time. The engine you want to put is fine, but keep the original motor, drivetrain. Then at least your car will still have all it matching numbers, to some it would matter. So if in time you have to sell, then she will be worth more. Like my car, redoing the motor but a different one same as the transmission. The original stays in the back of the shop. Have a great one
Gorgeous car. Love the Cutlass - and it has a/c! I'd have to agree with keeping the stock looks, makes it a real sleeper. Not too often do you see a classic Cutlass S in that nice of condition. Changing the drivetrain and keeping the old tucked away would be the way to go IMHO.
