Welcome to the site! Congrats on the new toy, although I'm sorry you had to deal with a cracked block right off the bat. We've got a forum for major builds. If you have time to post pictures of your project we'd enjoy following the restoration with you. John

Hey tjdr90: Welcome to the Classic Oldsmobile Forum. There are a lot of great people and good information here for the taking.

Just stay away from some young guy named Allan R. He pretends that he's from Canada, but I know he can't be, because he talks sooooo much!!!
Canadians are much more reserved.

Someone here is advertising a 1963 394 & Slim Jim combo from a Dynamic. The 63 and 64 engines are externally identical. If your Starfire heads are good, transplant those and the 4BC intake to the 63 engine. You will still have the correct S suffix heads and no one will be the wiser. The D88 pistons are slightly lower compression than the Starfire and may tolerate available modern fuel better.

Fro some reason I'm thinking the guy selling the 394 is also in Canada.

EDIT- Seller's in Texas. Chequenman had commented in the sell thread and he's in Canada.

I have 2 other star fire parts cars. They are seized. The cracked block just had complete rebuild with .30 over pistons. I pulled one of other blocks and pistons are standard. Going to send them both to engine rebuilders and see if they can make one out of two. Should know in week or so

Hey,
I'm originally from Winnipeg. I moved last June and took the olds with me. Good to see someone from Manitoba on the site.

Did we mention that we want to see pics?

Welcome aboard. Gosh, if you asked them to check it and they didn't, maybe you can get some of the cost of rebuild from their negligence? Sorry to hear the bad news. Good luck with the project. Post some pics of the car when you can.
There are quite a few Canucks on this site. We are also trying to get as many members as possible to post their location on the "Oldsmobile Map". It's nice to see who else is into Olds and in the vicinity. Consider putting yourself on? Here's the link, (takes a little bit to load): http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13316933309231 Use the 'additions' menu at the top left to add yourself in! To find someone the easiest way is to 'view' and select 'list'. It will appear and you can scroll down to whomever you are looking for (numerically, then alpha sort) Then just clik the name and it will show you where that rascal lives!

Jaybird! I resemble that remark, except I'm not young like you ya lil whippersnapper. Yes I talk a lot - that was my job before I retired. Have to keep myself ready to re-enter the workforce if I need 'project' money!!
How can you pretend to be Canadian? We're much to polite to pretend to be something we're not. There! I made your point for you .
