Hello from Florida

Hello to all,

I just got 1970 Cutlass SX similar to my high school ride. This one came with a 455.
I hope to learn and contribute with all here.

Best,

Z

I believe all SX's came with a 455. Most (maybe all) had 2-barrell carbs and higher gear ratios. I have never owned one so this is just what I have learned on here. This was apparently an attempt to get better gas mileage and avoid the higher insurance premiums of the 442's. We sure would like to see some pictures.

That sucks. Were you driving when it happened or parked?

Have you seen those fire blankets? They do a good job of smothering fires under the hood. And one of those quick disconnect battery terminals. We sink so much dough into these cars to lose them in a fire is a disaster

W-32 option got you a 4 barrel on your SX.

Never thought about it before but you may be right about the idea behind the SX -- kind of a continuation of the Turnpike Cruiser, which died after '68.

To OP: Welcome to CO. Sorry about the fire. Get us some pictures when you can. Is your car a 2 barrel or 4?
