Hello!

Hi there guys, my name is Bryan. Just joined up after searching and finding some good information here.

Proud owner of a new (to me) 74 Delta 88 with a 455.

Haven't done much with it yet. New temp sender and speedo cable. Car has a new trans as of 1997. Looking forward to being a part of the Olds community!

Hey Bryan, Welcome to CO !

I have 2 '76 Ninety Eight Regency Coupes so your car is a close relative. Great car you have...tell us more about it and post some pics when you get a chance. This is a great forum to learn and share information about our beloved Oldsmobiles!

Thumbs up

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

I will get some pics of it up tonight most likely. Just picked it up last Monday. I had been thinking about getting either a classic to fix up or an economical car for a while now, or course the American Muscle won.. I just couldn't pass it up, it's in relatively good shape for its age. Needs a few minor things for the interior, and a trans leak I need to trace down. Who needs fuel efficiency anyway? My Wife has a Hyundai, that's good enough...

Not sure of the plans with it yet, probably will keep it mostly stock and repair/replace whatever is in need of it. I am currently getting Automotive Master Tech certified and have access to a shop if anything major comes along, the rest I plan to do at home.

Welcome to our site. You will probably be spending a lot of OJT on your Oldsmobile during your education experience.

Thanks, I stole it from a member over at the HAMB, that's why I give him credit. He probably stole it from someone else, but it's still true.

Well, either way I guess there is truth to it, heh heh.

So how do you all prefer images be posted on this forum? As attachments or should I use the image code and link them from an external hosting site?

Here are some links to a few photos taken the day after I got her home. It does have dual exhaust, the last 12 inches or so of the right tailpipe is in the trunk right now..

Sorry the full size pics are so huge...

haha, yeah.. gets pretty warm down south... you could always head up to northern AZ... it usually doesn't get past the high 90s here.

Welcome aboard, Bryan! 20-something yrs. ago I drove a '73 88 w/455. Loved it... actually used to bring it to Gulfport (MS) 1/4 mi. dragstrip and it cranked out low 16s at 86 mph. What a hoot that was.... engine and turbo 400 stayed intact after 130,000 miles, but it was heck on U- and CV-joints! Replaced them at least twice.
Best of luck with the new acquisition.

That sounds like a blast! Someday I would love to take this car to a strip. There is one down in Wittmann, AZ from what I understand. We have a dirt oval track up here where I live, but that's not what I'm looking to do.

.....Thanks. What part of AZ have you been to?

I've been to Phoenix and the surrounding area. I have a friend in Wickenburg. Been to the Kingman area, Sedona, Flagstaff, Tucson, Tombstone, Winslow, etc.... Haven't seen anything out there yet that I didn't like! Monument Valley is my absolute favorite place, even though part of it is Utah! It's just so friggin beautiful, I think! We've hit all the "tourist" places. I know it gets hot out there, I've been out there in August before. But it always seems to be breezy. I'm sure I'd start complaining about the heat after a few years too, but someday I'm gonna live out there. That's my dream! Truly God's country out there. The rocks, canyons and formations...... just gorgeous!

Ok, I won't warn Bryan that as soon as the snow start to fall in Ohio, you've been known to head to Arizona and move in with any CO member who would have ya.
