Hello
Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking in the forums for a while and finally decided to join up.
I got my first Oldsmobile in high school (mid-80's). It was a 1975 Cutlass S with a 350. That planted the seeds of a lifelong Oldsmobile affection.
I followed that up with a 1970 Delta 88 with a 455. I did a little bit of tweaking to the motor (Offenhauser intake with a Holley 750) bit it was such a powerful beast it didn't need much to make it roar.
I drove that car until the frame rotted out from under it. I pulled the motor and trans intending to drop them in a Cutlass convertible someday but the years passed by and I lost storage access. I had to sell the motor/trans...
Fast-forward a decade or so and I finally got my hands on a 1968 Cutlass S convertible with a 455 already stabbed in it.
WOOT!
So, my dream is finally getting back on course. I'm fixing up the old convertible and getting my Olds self back in the game!
Look forward to meeting you all in the forums!
Steve

It's in pretty rough shape and needs a whole lot of EVERYTHING.
Perhaps when I've got a few decent "AFTER" pics that show some progress I'll share some "BEFORE"
For now, it's not much to look at.

Welcome aboard. Believe it or not those before pictures will mean a lot down the road. I wish I had taken more on my ride. The pristine like new pictures can be had anytime. It's the journey as well as the destination that will be fun later...... Just my thoughts......Tedd

The BEFORE
This is the exterior BEFORE
The interior... I've got a pair of swivel buckets that I've been saving for years specifically for this application. The front seats are going in the trash. I'll probably post them in the For Sale section in case anyone needs parts or hardware.
The 455

Those are actually F85 fenders.
They're in pretty rough shape so I can only imagine how bad the original fenders were that someone swapped these white ones onto the car.

From what I can tell the floor pans were patched at some point so I need to take a good look at the anchor points.

Believe it or not, I like the seats with NO headrests. I may be interested in them, but they'd need to have the backs removed for packaging for shipping. Consider this as "being in line" if you will. I dont have a lot of chances to get down into the parts for sale stuff. These would be for mu '64 Buick Special, 455/4 speed post car. PM me if youd like to consider that OK? Otherwise, thats a fine project youve got there! Bill

I think you should keep those seats with the car, Mine were just as bad before I refinished them. With new padding and covers they will have a feel in the car you won't regret. You just wont be swiveling around.

Actually my 68 was in about the same shape as yours appears to be and in some areas much worse. I'm glad I followed through with it. Even though I still have a couple of things I want to improve the end result is an absolute BLAST to drive Good Luck with it.

I just thought I'd throw that out there. I did the seats in my '72 XGS and they came out super. Not a cheap endeavour, and well worth it. Id say keep that GM car all GM. Those maroon seats are SAWEET! Just be forewarned, that once you start, theres no turning back LOL...
Aftermarket seats are always a cheezy addition, and stand out like a sore thumb! Ive been looking for a while, and seats wayyy worse than these are commanding astronomical $$$.
The whole interior on my '64 is OEM and grandma driven with 39K on the clock. Buckets would be cool, but the bench with the wife snuggled up nice and close cant be beat either ! I guess Ill hafta keep looking for a longer Competition Plus stick. The T handle hits Pat in the knee. Bill
